Nomadic Life

Unseen, uncharted territory with wild, open pastures, lavender fields hidden amidst undulating hills and brackish basins that give refuge to migratory birds, the wintry hinterland of Chang-thang stretches far and wide.

Home to the nomadic people known as Chang-pa, the plateaus of Chang-thang hide adventures that the most daring of travellers fear to embark on.

Far beyond our contested imagination lies a world that has remained in its natural and raw state of existence, where the treachery of the land challenges its beauty and where the Chang-pas live a life of relentless hardship.

Live with the nomads and witness their life, unravelling in solidarity with its surroundings, silently stitching each day into a tapestry of seasons.

Find home beside the Nomadic Raybo and go shepherding over their mountains, chasing pashmina goats and yaks across the open pastures, while Tibetan Mastiffs stand guard.

Partake in their rustic and rural way of life by learning to spin wool and milk the goats. A botanical lesson awaits, as you will be introduced to the wild herbs and indigenous plants of Chang-thang.

Collect stories from the life of a people who have safeguarded their nomadic traditions, even in the frigid, arctic temperatures of the winter when everything from water to earth, freezes over.
